Victoria Canal
Victoria Canal’s debut album, Slowly, It Dawns, marks the culmination of a decade-long journey in music that has earned her widespread acclaim. A recipient of the Ivor Novello Rising Star award in 2023, followed by Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2024 for her powerful track "Black Swan," Canal has established herself as one of the most introspective and emotionally resonant singer-songwriters of her generation.
The Spanish-American, London-based artist’s deeply personal lyrics and fearless vulnerability have attracted a loyal fanbase and critical praise. Following a year that saw her open for Hozier and perform alongside Coldplay at Glastonbury 2024, Canal now steps into her own with Slowly, It Dawns. Written and recorded over three years in London and Los Angeles, the album explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and acceptance.
Born in Munich to Spanish and American parents and raised in Madrid, Canal’s global upbringing shaped her worldview. She began formal music training at a young age under the guidance of her grandmother, a classical piano teacher, and later developed her songwriting skills, eventually dropping out of NYU to pursue music full-time. Now, Canal stands poised to continue her ascent as a compelling voice in modern music, unafraid to confront life’s complexities and contradictions.
